Yonkers lawmakers, Santa light the tree at Washington Park

The sixth annual City Hall tree-lighting ceremony was held in Yonkers Tuesday evening.

The 13-foot tree was lit at Washington Park, outside of City Hall.

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano was at the event, surrounded by students from Saint Casimir, Girls Scouts, elected officials and Santa.

This was the first tree-lighting ceremony of the season.  There will be 15 other lighting events throughout the holiday season.

City Hall also changed its lights to red and green to mark the holiday season.
