Police: Driver who crashed into taxi in New Rochelle was drunk

NEW ROCHELLE -

Police say the driver who crashed into a taxi in New Rochelle on Thanksgiving was drunk.

Joseph Vessechia, of Yorktown Heights, is now charged with DWI and vehicular assault.

Investigators say his car collided with a taxi at the intersection of Echo Avenue and Main Street on Thursday morning.

A passenger in the cab was rushed to the hospital in serious condition. Both drivers suffered minor injuries.
