1 dead, others injured in 3-vehicle fire after Brooklyn Bridge crash

Officials says one person is dead and five others were injured after three vehicles caught on fire following a crash on the Brooklyn Bridge.
Police say the crash happened around 7 a.m., causing the bridge to close in both directions between Cadman Plaza and Adams Street. The lanes have since reopened.
Police say six cars were involved in the crash and three went up in flames.
Police say it appears a pickup truck somehow lost control and smashed into several other cars including a Volkswagen.
Authorities say people were unable to help the trapped driver from the burning car despite their efforts. The victim was later identified as 32-year-old Kristopher Hambas, of Scarsdale.
Another person was taken to the hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
