A Haverstraw police vehicle struck and killed a man Saturday morning in Garnerville, police confirm.
The incident happened at a Mobil gas station on Route 202.
Gas station workers say the man used to walk on Route 202 every morning to buy lottery tickets and coffee at the store.
Police investigated the incident Saturday, but are not releasing further details. Authorities say they will release more information on Monday.
People who knew the victim says he lived at the Rockland Motel just up the street from the gas station.
The owner of the motel says the man had been living there about two years by himself. He described the victim as a nice man who kept to himself.
The owner also says the man's family was at the motel Saturday and talked to police.
There is no confirmation on if the officer is facing any charges. The officer is reportedly on administrative leave.
