A Carmel middle school has won the final News 12 School Spirit Showdown.
With over 25,000 votes, the Rams of George Fischer Middle School Rams showed off their winning style at a pep rally last week. “It's just a really good feeling to walk into a school, filled with joy and greatness,” says student Josh Ennis.
Students say they're proud to be a part of a school where people respect and appreciate their peers' values. “It made me feel pretty happy to go to this school and be in Carmel,” says student Rachel Dandreano.
Teachers agree, GFMS is worthy of the win. “They love being part of the bigger community. Also the advisor for student government, get to see the kids in [fifth-eighth] grade and get involved, their dances, food drives, we do everything we do to help build the community,” says teacher Dan Drebycz. “It's a very spirited community, as you can tell, in the hallway, athletic field or classroom, we are committed to making sure every day is a positive day for our students,” adds teacher Lisa Steiner.
George Fischer Middle School is the only winning school from Putnam County. Although they may be further away from the other winning schools, their spirit here is undeniable.
