County executive, Con Edison announce $100M investment for storm response

Westchester County Executive George Latimer met with Con Edison officials Monday to announce a major investment to make sure the company's storm response is better this year.
Latimer stood with officials from Con Edison outside its headquarters in Rye Tuesday as Con Edison's president announced a $100 million investment to improve storm response.
Part of the plan is to limit wait time by installing stronger poles, smart switches and breakaway powerlines over the next four years. It also aims to have more local linemen on standby to get to problem spots sooner, as well as prioritizing main roads and identifying trees now that could pose a danger later.

Another part of the plan is to communicate with customers via text message. Customers can now report an outage by sending a text message to 1-800-752-6633 – the outage will be reported right away.
