Middlesex County authorities have made a second arrest in connection to a hit-and-run crash that killed a high school vice principal.
Prosecutors say that 21-year-old Piscataway resident Sohjah Powell-Warner was arrested in relation to the crash that killed New Brunswick High School Vice Principal Tyrone Harrison.
Authorities say that Powell-Warner is the administrator of the Facebook and Instagram accounts for the “78 Imports” car racing club that allegedly participates in illegal street races. Powell-Warner was charged with two counts of hindering law enforcement.
Officials say that Powell-Warner “purposely altered the official Facebook page and Instagram posts of ‘78 Imports’ in an effort to hinder the investigation” into the hit-and-run case.
According to law enforcement, Harrison was walking from the Edison train station on Stelton Road and Ethel Avenue when he was struck and killed by a 2003 Honda Accord allegedly driven by 21-year-old Freddy Garcia Jr. Officials say that Garcia fled the scene, and later abandoned the vehicle.
Authorities say that Garcia and other drivers were participating in an illegal street race at the time of the crash. Garcia was arrested Thursday and charged with aggravated manslaughter.
