Protesters rally against county plan to private park

Some parents in Westchester want to stop the county from privatizing a park.
Protesters at Scout Field in Eastchester Saturday said lawmakers want to make the park a fenced-in soccer field for the use of Eastchester's youth sports teams.
They say cutting down trees and expanding the parking lot will disrupt the field's natural beauty.
It is not clear when the changes to the park are expected to take place.
The county issued a statement, saying it is working with stakeholders for a flexible plan that can "accommodate the variety of needs that different constituencies desire."
