Yonkers students reconnect with friends on first day of school

Posted: Updated:
YONKERS -

Many students returned to school in Yonkers Thursday.

At Yonkers School 24, many students reconnected with friends, took first-day pictures and had some welcome-back hugs from Principal Kim Davis.

Students say there's plenty to look forward to this school year. Yonkers school officials are also promising a great year, including doing what the community needs and supporting the schools, children, staff and parents.

Yonkers is one of the largest school districts in the state, so with about 600 school buses on the road every day and students walking to school, city officials want to remind drivers to be extra cautious. They are reminding residents to look out for students and to make sure not to pass school buses.
