Safety was the main topic of a high-profile Israeli diplomat's visit to a Jewish Community Center in the Hudson Valley on Wednesday.
More than 100 organizations were on hand at the JCC Mid-Westchester in Scarsdale to welcome Dani Dayan, the Consul General of Israel in New York.
Just last year, the center was the target of a bomb threat in what was described as a wave of anti-Semitic incidents in the Hudson Valley and across the country. "Any representative of Israel, in any circumstance like that, stands shoulder to shoulder with the Jewish community that is attacked," says Ambassador Dayan.
Leaders at the center say they have a lot of work to do, but they are ready to make sure the community remains safe.
