Father claims New Rochelle police took arcade incident too far

A father claims his son was bruised beyond recognition by New Rochelle police during a confrontation at a popular family fun center.
Andre Rodriguez, who was an NYPD officer for seven years, claims New Rochelle police didn't follow protocol last Sunday during an encounter with his son, Aaron.
Aaron Rodriguez had taken his own 5-year-old son and his 15-year-old brother out for a night of fun at New Roc City. New Rochelle police say they sent three officers to the arcade for a disturbance call just after 10 p.m.
When they arrived, they found Aaron Rodriguez pinned to the ground by New Roc City security, who said Rodriguez appeared to be intoxicated and out of control.
Police claim Aaron Rodriguez had multiple altercations inside the arcade. While he was handcuffed, they say he kicked the police car, knocking himself down along with two officers.
Rodriguez's father says that while his son may have gotten a little rowdy, New Rochelle police took it too far -- and he says his son has the bruises to prove it.
Rodriquez says two days after the incident, his 27-year-old son is still in a hospital bed. He says the police roughed him up so badly that he didn’t recognize his son.
“He takes me into the room and I look at him and I say, ‘That's not my son,"’ says Rodriguez.

But New Rochelle police are standing by their story as the Rodriguez family demands justice.

New Roc City security did not get back to News 12, but police say the officers involved in the incident remain on duty in their active roles as the investigation continues.
