Annual festival in Crown Heights seeks to connect various cultures

The third annual "One Crown Heights" festival helped pay tribute to different cultures in the community.
Neighbors marched from the Jewish Children's Museum to Brower Park where they were treated to a new mural designed to get people talking.
"People should have opposing views, people should have perspective, it should be a piece that brings people together for dialogue and conversation," said Brooklyn Councilwoman Laurie A. Cumbo.
The painting is meant to represent the present and future population of Crown Heights. It centers on a resident with images on his head that resembles a crown-shape. To the left of that resident is a Hasidic man standing in unity and holding a picture of his congregation.
The event was part of a larger City Council-sponsored initiative that moderates cross-culture conversations and events in the area.
