Yonkers welcomes six new police officers

Some new faces are joining the ranks of the Yonkers Police Department.
Family and friends joined Mayor Mike Spano and Police Commissioner Charles Gardner at the Grinton I. Will Public Library to welcome six new officers.
The ceremony also featured seven other officers and sergeants that moved up in ranks.
Officer Vanessa Capllonch says it's an honor to live out her dream in Yonkers. "I've always lived here, this is my home, these are my people. It's good to work in a place that you grew up and it's close to home. It's close to my heart."
Officer Capllonch and the other probationary patrol officers will hit the streets as early as tonight.
