Scammer posing as utility tries to get $1,000 from Ardsley company

A scammer posing as O&R Utilities tried to get $1,000 from an Ardsley company.
Anthony McKenney says his secretary got a call from someone claiming they were from O&R Utilities and that the power would be shut off inside their building unless they paid a bill over $1,000.

After calling the number back, McKenney said he was confused because O&R doesn't provide power to any homes or businesses in Westchester County.
"We don't even have Orange & Rockland, we have Con Ed,” he said.
That’s when he decided to have his wife investigate and realized it was a scam.
The couple reached out to their real electrical company, Con Edison, to give them a full report of exactly what happened. The Con Ed representative told them on the phone that they've heard more and more scams happening like this in recent weeks and that their security team will be looking into this.
