YONKERS -

Seven people were injured when police say a 17-year-old slammed her Nissan into a pole on Saw Mill River Road in Yonkers Wednesday night.

The crash happened around 11 p.m. Emergency crews had to cut their way into the car to rescue some of the 15- and 16-year-old passengers inside.

Police are not releasing their names, but they were all taken to hospitals with injuries not considered life-threatening.

News 12 spoke with a road worker who says crashes often occur on the stretch of Saw Mill River Road.

Police say it's too early in the investigation to determine if speeding, drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
