People in Peekskill braved Wednesday's heat and humidity to celebrate America's birthday.

The annual Peekskill 4th of July Parade stepped off around 10 a.m. Bands, floats and community groups including Scouts and Little Leaguers were all part of the procession.

The Peekskill Fire Department hosts the holiday tradition, featuring several community groups, emergency responders and law enforcement agencies.
