Firemen's Parade and Carnival kicks off summer

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS -

People in Yorktown Heights have kicked off their summer by showing support for those who risk their lives to help them.

The annual Firemen's Parade and Carnival is underway in the town.

Families came out last night to honor the town’s department and to enjoy the rides, games and plenty of food.

The event raises money for the Yorktown Heights Engine Company. "It's important to show these gentlemen they are appreciated in this town…They do a lot for our community, more than people realize and the money is going to people who serve our community and risk their lives to serve people," says one parade goer.

The carnival runs through Sunday.
