New Rochelle firehouse closes for much-needed renovationsPosted: Updated:
A Westchester firehouse is getting a much-needed facelift.
Fire Station 2 on Webster Avenue in New Rochelle has been closed since last Friday to undergo major renovations.
The project could take up to ten months to complete.
The building, which was erected in the early 20th century, will receive a new stairway, roof and windows, as well as air conditioning.
The $2 million project is already paid for, according to City Manager Charles Strome.
The engine and ladder truck housed there have been moved to other nearby stations.
New Rochelle Fire Chief Louis DiMeglio says the changes should not impact response times, but that if any delays do happen they will make adjustments as needed.
