Workers in Westchester rallied Monday afternoon in support of paid sick leave.
Labor leaders say 125,000 employees in the county do not have it. New legislation introduced by Democratic County Legislator Catherine Borgia could change that.
"This law is intended to cover anyone who works in Westchester County more than 80 hours over the course of a year," Borgia says.
The Westchester County Earned Sick Leave Law also protects employees from retaliation if they have to miss a day of work because they are sick.
The legislation is still being weighed by the County Board. County legislators could vote on the law within the next two months.
