Police: Man stabbed to death inside Bushwick home
A man was found fatally stabbed inside a Brooklyn home, police say.
Otis James, 46, who is disabled and confined to a wheelchair, was found stabbed to death inside 494 Central Ave. Tuesday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say James was stabbed in the stomach, and a knife was recovered at the scene next to his body. Investigators say they are working to determine if the stab wound was self-inflicted.
James worked as a bus operator for the MTA from 2005 until May 2017 when he retired on disability. An MTA spokesperson said in a statement, “This is tragic news and our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. James's family."
Neighbors say he had two daughters – one of which is about to graduate high school.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
