Families homeless after fire damages West Haverstraw house

Two families are homeless after a fast-moving fire in Rockland County on Wednesday.
Firefighters knocked down the flames at a house on Benson Street in West Haverstraw.
Officials say it appears the fire started upstairs, causing major damage. "They won’t be able to go back and it's not habitable. All the utilities are shut off and it's got a lot of water smoke damage in the hallway and lower floor apartment," says West Haverstraw Fire Inspector Fred Viohl.
No word on the cause of the fire.
The Red Cross is helping both families find a place to stay.
