Hundreds of people turned out in Stony Point Sunday night to raise money for a 19-year-old Rockland County firefighter who had to have his feet and hands amputated due to complications from the flu.
Doctors at Montefiore Medical Center amputated both his feet and hands since then as the illness morphed into septic shock.
The fundraiser was held at Lynch's Restaurant to help get him the best prosthetics, care and  rehabilitation so he can get back on the fire trucks, says New City Fire Department Assistant Chief Richard WIllows.
Willow says he was amazed by the politicians, policemen and other community leaders giving up their Sunday for the young man he trained.
McCue's grandmother says McCue's father and sister weren't able to attend the event because they couldn't leave McCue's hospital bed to be here.
The next fundraiser for McCue will be held later this spring. It will be a street fair in New City organized by a Clarkstown police officer.
A GoFundMe page has also been created to help raise money for McCue's medical costs.
