Turn To Tara’s continued probe into mail delivery problems across Westchester County reveals that the problems are widespread.
A recent Freedom of Information request filed by News 12 shows 164 complaints made in the past year alone.
A majority of the complaints come from residents in Yonkers, where problems range from lost checks and missing bills to undelivered medication and important tax documents.
“It’s just unacceptable,” said Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano. “This is the United States Postal Service, and there should be no better service in the world than the USPS.”
Rep. Nita Lowey also shared a letter she sent to the postmaster general, describing a “wide range of structural issues that continue to plague local mail delivery.”
“It’s outrageous they can't get their act together at the Postal Service,” said Lowey.

While the documents prove that there is inconsistent and delayed mail services in every part of the country, it doesn’t shine light on the scope of the problem: News 12 received more than 100 complaints about it during one week back in January.
Yonkers Councilwoman Corazon Pineda-Isaac says complaints to her office are also piling up, with increased concerns regarding privacy.
A spokesperson from USPS said to News 12, "Our ongoing community outreach efforts continue to deliver positive results for our customers and community leaders across the Westchester District."
