$42,000 grant given to support Rockland artists

A handful of lucky artists and arts organizations in Rockland are now getting the chance to pursue their most imaginative goals.
Eighteen local artists and community organizations were awarded $42,000 Friday at a special ceremony at the Rockland Center for the Arts in West Nyack.
The funding helps support festivals, community workshops, exhibits, concerts and more.
"Receiving any kind of acknowledgement is phenomenal. It gives you energy. It gives you a boost. I'm halfway through the project and without the money, I would have stopped. It would have been over," says photographer Lisa Levart.
The grants were awarded in three different categories comprising of community projects, individual artists and education grants that bring arts into Rockland public schools.
