Peekskill ConEd worker recalls Puerto Rico recovery efforts

A Con Edison worker from Westchester is recalling her time spent in Puerto Rico during the Hurricane Maria recovery efforts.
Peekskill's Shakira Wilson is Con Edison's incident commander for hundreds of power crews sent to help restore electricity in the hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico.
The island, home to over 1 million people, was left in the dark after Maria, and Con Edison was among the first companies to aid Puerto Rico.
Wilson and her team oversaw restoration the San Juan, the island's capital and a top tourist attraction.
Five months after the storm, San Juan has 99 percent of electricity restored, while the island as a whole is at 84 percent.
During Wilson's time on the island, she witnessed an elementary school restore power, a moment she says impacted her, thanks to the gratitude neighbors showed for their work.
