Schumer: Trump’s budget cuts gun background checks

A local lawmaker says President Donald Trump's budget proposal would make it harder to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people.
Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) says the proposed spending plan cuts millions of dollars from existing background check systems.
Trump's budget for fiscal year 2019 was released a week ago, before the shooting that killed 17 people in Parkland, Florida.
Schumer says the proposal trims $12 million from federal programs that help states maintain records on who is not eligible to purchase firearms.
