Students at Pelham High School walked out of school Friday morning to ask Congress to act following the deadly shooting in Florida.
High schoolers in Pelham watched the shooting unfold in the high school in Parkland, Florida, and say they now wonder if their school could be next.
Junior Violent Massie-Vereker helped stage the walkout with her classmates in response.
"No matter how many there are, no matter what the magnitude it's still excruciating, painful," said Massie-Vereker. "It's so terrifying."
Jennie Driesen, co-chair of the Progressive Women of Pelham helped host the walk out.
"It's just going on and on and nothing is changing," Driesen said.
The high school held assemblies throughout the day to go over proper protocol in case a shooting ever happens there.
Activists at the school say they believe that if Congress legislates sensible gun laws, it will help to lessen the risk.
