Members of the Correction Officers Benevolent Association in Rockland County are collecting donations for a correction officer whose daughter is in need of a heart transplant.
The association’s 10-13 fundraiser will be held this weekend in Stony Point. The 10-13 in the event’s name is the radio code for an officer in need of assistance.
Marcos Munoz, a correction officer in Rockland County, found out in January that his 12-year-old daughter Bella needs a new heart. The money raised will go toward Bella’s medical expenses. She is at Children’s Hospital of New York in Manhattan on a waiting list for a heart transplant.
So far, the group has raised more than $40,000 for Bella.
"We just want to make sure that the family doesn't have to worry about the financials, that we are able to alleviate a part of the stress that would be a big help to them,” says Rockland County correction officer Matthew Peters.
The 10-13 fundraiser will be held Sunday from 1-6 p.m. at the Clubhouse at Patriot Hills.
