Rockland Co. Executive Day: Night driving will be treacherous

Officials are advising residents to remain off the roadways in Rockland County.
A total of 26 plows were across Rockland County clearing the roads, but officials said that the falling temperatures could be dangerous for drivers attempting to venture out.
"Night driving will be treacherous. You won't be able to see where you're going. Tonight will be bad. Tomorrow and the next day will be bad, too,” said Rockland County Executive Ed Day.
Earlier in the day, cars moved slowly along the New York State Thruway as the county got pounded with snow and strong winds.
High wind advisories were also in effect along the Tappan Zee Bridge leading to Rockland County from Westchester.
Officials say weather is likely to be blamed for a partial collapse of a breezeway at the Middlewood Senior Citizen Housing Complex in Nanuet.  No one was injured, but three people were displaced as a result of the collapse.
More than 2,000 residents also temporarily lost power due to the storm as ice paralyzed power lines and snow weighed them down.
