Warming centers are opening their doors today as the region continues to see some of the coldest temperatures of 2017.
A number of warming centers are open Saturday in Yonkers to help keep people warm amid frigid temperatures.
The Crestwood Library on Thompson Street is among the warming centers and is also offering refreshments for anyone looking to stay out of the cold.
Other libraries include the Yonkers Riverfront Library and the Grinton Library. Some community centers are open as well.
"It's so important because some people are alone in their houses, all alone, who need to get to a nice warm place. Anyone who needs heat can come here," says Gabriella Monaco, of the Crestwood Library.
