Officials release ID of firefighter who died after responding to Nyack bank

Fire officials have released the identity of the Nyack firefighter who died after responding to a call Monday morning.
News 12 is told that former Capt. David Jahnes, 50, suffered a heart attack while responding to reports of a chemical spill at the Chase Bank on North Broadway.
Jahnes was transported to Nyack Hospital, where he later died. Authorities say his death was unrelated to the call.
The flag was flown at half-staff Tuesday at the Nyack Fire Patrol to honor the 16-year veteran firefighter.
"The people of Rockland County and beyond are forever indebted to Firefighter Jahnes,” said Rockland County Executive Ed Day in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very difficult time."
News 12 is told the Nyack fire chief is working with Jahnes' family on funeral arrangements.
