Fire rips through Mahwah home next to Secor Farms

MAHWAH -

A fire ripped through a house in Mahwah just across the Rockland County border.

Officials say the fire started Saturday after 4 p.m. on Airmont Avenue next to the popular Secor Farms. The house belongs to the owners of the business.

One of the homeowners suffered minor injuries trying to put out the fire.

Officials say Christmas lights likely sparked the blaze that left behind significant damage.

News of the incident drove people to shop at Secor Farms Sunday as a way to help.

"To have this kind of loss is horrible and before Christmas it broke my heart for them," said Leslie Konikow of Mahwah. "However as a community Mahwah is fabulous and we are going to rally behind them."

An investigation is still ongoing.
