The Yonkers Department of Public Works said Friday that it is not taking any chances when it comes to the wintry weather expected this weekend.
Forecasters said the lower Hudson Valley could receive 3 to 6 inches of snow, with less accumulation farther north. A winter weather advisory was in effect for northern Westchester County.
Yonkers DPW Commissioner Tom Meier said the roads would be pretreated and that 20 salt trucks would be hitting the roadways.
Plows would also be on the road if more than 2 inches of snow accumulates.
Forecasters said the snow was expected to taper off by Saturday evening.
