MOUNT VERNON -

Family, friends and politicians gathered Monday to remember former Westchester County Legislator Bernice Spreckman.

Spreckman, 82, died on Thanksgiving Day. She represented parts of Yonkers and Mount Vernon for 20 years until she retired last year.

David Tubiolo, Spreckman's successor and mentee, described her as someone who changed his life and groomed him to follow her legacy.

A video tribute of Spreckman's many senior talent shows played during the service. Her eldest son said the loss of his mother is felt by everyone in her family.

Spreckman is survived by her three children and eight grandchildren.
