Police: Driver hit 3 students outside Stratford school

Police say a driver ignored a crossing guard and hit three students outside Franklin School in Stratford Friday.
The injuries to the students were described as minor, and they were back in class Monday.
Police say the driver, Netty Bejarano-Descontreras, told them she couldn't see the traffic light because the sun was in her eyes.
Parents, the school's principal and police all say that distracted driving and speeding near the school is a persistent problem.
"I'd like to see a blinking stop light, a standing post on the sidewalk. I'd like to see some surveillance," says principal Sherrod McNeill.
Stratford officials say they are hoping the state can pay for the new signals and signs outside the school.
