The Stamford Police Department today is stepping up enforcement of seatbelt violations.

The department is joining hundreds of other departments for the national Click it or Ticket campaign.

According to the department, increased traffic for Thanksgiving raises the likelihood of accidents, and passengers not wearing seatbelts are at a higher risk of injury or death.
