A Chinese-American woman is fighting to bring her orphaned nieces to the United States.

Suki Chen, who lives in New Windsor and owns a business in Cornwall, says her three young nieces are living alone in a small apartment in China after a car crash last year claimed their mother's life and left their father in a coma. Three weeks later, their grandmother was killed in a crash also.

Chen has been working hard to bring the girls, ages 5, 7 and 12, to America but her application was denied by the Department of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services last year. Chen has since traveled to China twice and has hired a lawyer to apply for humanitarian parole to give her temporary custody of her nieces.

For now, Chen Skypes with the girls often and relies on neighbors to bring them food. 

Chen says she expects a decision from the Department of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services by the end of the year.
