CLARKSTOWN -

Twelve police officers from Clarkstown are lacing up their sneakers this weekend for a good cause.

The officers are heading to Virginia for the 42nd annual Marine Corps Marathon Sunday. The group will be running to help raise money to provide scholarships to children of marines killed in action.

"It's really an effort to educate the children of those who made the ultimate sacrifice," says Officer Andrew Kelly. "Those in the Marine Corps that have died in past wars as well as law enforcement agents."

Donations can be made on the MC-LEF Marine Corps Marathon Team web page.
