Hundreds of residents at one Yonkers building have been without gas for nearly three weeks due to a gas leak.

Last Monday, News 12 was told the leak was fixed at the Ross Calcagno Homes on Brook Street and that residents would have service restored in a day or two.

The executive director of the Municipal Housing Authority says a gas pipe was leaking inside the building. When the rest of the pipes were tested, it was discovered they were also failing. News 12 has learned that the MHA has applied to the state for tax credits to rehab the entire building.

In a statement, the executive director said that they had six plumbers on site to try and restore the gas as quickly as possible and that each tenant was given two plates to make up for the loss of the stove.  The spokesperson said that they have been working diligently to replace and repair the six gas lines in the building.
