Military members in Orange County donated blood today for a little boy diagnosed with a rare blood disease.
One-year-old Kyle Way was diagnosed with aplastic anemia earlier this year, which requires him to have a number of blood, platelet and bone marrow transfusions. Thankfully, Kyle is on the road to recovery after treatment.
Dozens of Airmen donated blood in support of Kyle at Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh.  "Until it hits you personally, you can never understand the depth of importance and how much it means. If it hadn't been for folks like these and at other blood drives, Kyle wouldn't be here," said Kyle’s grandmother Dawn Merrill.
Stewart Air National Guard Base hosts a number of blood drives on base each year that are open to military and the public.
