Residents, businesses help in Harvey relief efforts

Westchester residents and businesses are doing their part to help with Harvey relief efforts.
The Yonkers-based Afya Foundation is putting together boxes filled with supplies for victims.
"We have been offered a significant donation of 250,000 pounds of supplies, water, over-the-counter medical supplies and other items for the relief efforts for Harvey,” says Danielle Butin, of the Afya Foundation.
Afya hopes to send the supplies to Houston within a week, but to do that it will need more funding.
Butin says they need to raise $50,000 to underwrite the effort from New York and move it as quickly as possible to Houston.
Afya is not the only organization in town raising money to help with Harvey relief efforts. For the next three weeks, all donations made at the Wishing Wells in Stew Leonard’s will go to the American Red Cross.
