New medical marijuana products will soon be available in New York State.

The state Health Department announced the products will be available in chewable tablets, lozenges and lotions.

Previously, the drug was mostly limited to liquids, oils and oral capsules.

Officials are also easing rules that prevent anyone other than certified patients from entering dispensaries.

The education level will also go down from four hours to two hours, for doctors interested in prescribing the drugs. But not all doctors agree with the proposal.

“I think it should actually go up to about 10 hours because there is a lot to really consider," says Dr. David Gentile. "We should also be doing a six-month continuing education course."

The state is opening up a 30-day comment period on the proposed changes starting Aug. 23.
