Officials: Fox that attacked woman tests positive for rabies

The fox that attacked a Mahopac woman on Saturday has tested positive for rabies, according to the Putnam County Health Department.
Merlin Padilla says she was outside her Agor Lane home when the gray fox attacked her.  She says the fox bit her ankle outside her home and then followed her inside. Padilla says she grabbed her two small children and fled the house, locking the fox inside as she called for help.
Officials say this is not the first gray fox to be found with rabies in the area. They say another fox tested positive a few weeks ago.
Padilla says she was given the first round of rabies treatment the day of attack. She received her second round Tuesday.
