An event Sunday was aimed at helping to combat pollution and opioid addiction in Rockland County.
Operation Medicine Cabinet was held in Pomona. It is a medication take-back initiative that is held every month.
A bin to drop off controlled and non-controlled medication was placed at the village's fire training center.
Officials stressed that the process is anonymous -- no questions asked, and it doesn't matter if the medication is labeled or not.
The initiative is held by the sheriff's department, as well as the Rockland County Solid Waste Management Authority.
All of the medication collected is going to be incinerated to avoid harming the environment or potentially getting into the wrong hands.
