Dozens of opponents of County Executive Rob Astorino’s plan to privatize Westchester County Airport gathered outside of the county office building in White Plains Monday evening.
County Executive Astorino introduced the multimillion-dollar plan. Bids can be submitted until July 28.
A county spokesperson says the plan is part of an FAA program that would allow the county to make money from the airport and use it for day cares, parks and police
Opponents fear the plan will increase noise and traffic while costing the county money.
A public hearing for the issue will be held July 27 at the Westchester County Center.
The Legislature does not plan to vote on the issue until the fall.
