Security was stepped up at an abandoned Port Chester hospital Thursday after a 14-year-old fell to his death there Tuesday night.
Chris Aguilar fell through the roof at the old United Hospital on Boston Post Road.
Concerned residents were happy to hear about the patrols, but say that Starwood Capital, the owners of the building, should step up as well.
News 12 investigated how easy it is to get access to the abandoned hospital. There are security cameras and gates surrounding the building, but they are easily climbable. When News 12 arrived at the property Thursday, part of the fence was open and one of the locks was broken. A security guard eventually did kick the News 12 crew off the property.
He told the crew that they patrol the site every half-hour 24 hours a day, but he had no comment on Tuesday night's incident or where they were at the time.
Starwood Capital did not return phone calls for comment about security or the future of the building.
The owners are reportedly in the process of getting approval from the village to replace the abandoned hospital with a $450 million mixed-use development.
