More than a dozen people called for action outside state Sen. David Carlucci's office in New City Wednesday afternoon.
They say Carlucci and the other seven Senate Democrats who make up the Independent Democratic Conference and caucus with Republicans are holding back New York's progressive agenda.
The protesters say New York needs a progressive stronghold during Donald Trump's presidency.
"David Carlucci was elected as a Democrat; he aligns himself with Trump Republicans in our Senate, stopping all progressive legislation from happening. We need him to align himself with Democrats,” says John Gromada, of Rockland Citizens Action Network.
Carlucci responded to the protest in a statement saying, "Reverting Albany to hyper-partisanship and squabbling over power while the State faces real challenges will not help anyone. I am committed to improving people's lives, not just talking about it."
