A domestic incident in Orange County ended Tuesday with a police chief in the hospital and a suspect dead from a gunshot wound.
State police say officers from the village of Maybrook and the town of Montgomery responded to a call about a domestic incident at 812 Abby Ave. in Maybrook around 9 a.m.
When they arrived, gunfire was exchanged with a man identified as 28-year-old Anthony Bostick.
Village of Maybrook Police Chief Arnold "Butch" Amthor was shot in the shoulder and taken to St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh.
The suspect was barricaded on the third floor of the home until police found him dead.  Sources say he could have died from a self-inflicted gunshot or was fatally wounded during gunfire exchange.
