Phelps hospital prepares for emergency at Indian Pt.

Phelps Memorial Hospital took part in a drill Thursday to prepare the staff in case of an emergency at the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant.
In the event of an emergency at the plant, hospitals within a 10-mile radius would be inundated with patients and may be incapacitated. Phelps is the closest hospital just outside that 10-mile radius. The staff at the hospital trained with consultants from Radiation Management Corporation, contracted through Indian Point, to aid workers who may face not only decontamination but medical injuries as well.
Workers say they hope they never have to put that training to use in real life, but they are ready in case they do.
