Dem. candidate cries foul over Amicone endorsement

The Democratic challenger in the race for Yonkers mayor is calling for an independent investigation following the Conservative Party?s announcement of its candidate Friday.
Dennis Robertson says Republican incumbent Phil Amicone solidified his party?s nomination by offering a high-paying job to Gail Burns, the chairperson of the Westchester Conservative Party. Burns works for the mayor at a salary of $85,000 per year. Robertson believes her employment and her group?s endorsement is indicative of foul play.
The endorsement of Amicone came after a closed-door meeting on Thursday night, but Roberts believes an arrangement was made beforehand.
Amicone calls the claims ?political posturing from a desperate candidate.? Burns says her employment had ?nothing to do with the party?s decision.?
